KASARAGOD: As much as 337 litres of illegal liquor was seized from the Maruti car, in a lightning inspection carried out by the Excise Special Squad in Arikady town in Kasaragod. 216 litres of Karnataka liquor and 121 litres of Goan liquor were seized. The accused Vineeth Shetty and Santhosh have been taken into custody.

Preventive Officer Sajan Upyal's team included Civil Excise Officers Maymol John, Manjunathan V and Nazaruddin, Sonu Sebastian and Civil Excise Officer driver Christine PA.

Meanwhile, the third accused in the case of 100 grams methamphetamine case was arrested. Abdullah Parampil, a native of Perinthalmanna, the owner of the Maruti Dzire car was arrested after 100.222 grams of methamphetamine was found in his car at the Tholpetty excise check post.

Wayanad Assistant Excise Commissioner Sudhir TN led the special investigation team that made the arrest.

The officials tracked the transactions made by the accused in Puttur Karnataka, and the CCTV footage of the transactions was also obtained. It has been found that the accused with the help of his coterie has many times smuggled MDMA including banned drugs to Kerala. The court has remanded the accused.
