THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A strong UDF wave has lashed Kerala as the official results of the Lok Sabha elections come out.
While UDF seized 18 out of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the CPM's only victory was narrowed down to Alathur where Minister K Radhakakrishnan contested. Meanwhile, the BJP created history as it registered its first-ever victory in the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi won in Thrissur with a majority of more than 75,000 votes.

It was the Attingal constituency that witnessed a tight contest till the completion of the counting of votes. Sitting MP Adoor Prakash defeated LDF's V Joy in the last round by a mere margin of 1708 votes. The sitting MPs who tasted defeat in the state are K Muraleedharan, who switched from Vadakara to Thrissur, Ramya Haridas in Alathur and AM Ariff in Alappuzha.

Mavelikkara sitting MP Kodikunnil Suresh defeated LDF's CA Arunkumar by a margin of 9000 votes. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi won in Wayanad by a massive margin of nearly 3.5 lakh votes. Other leaders who won by a massive margin of over 2 lakh votes are Hibi Eden in Ernakulam, ET Mohammed Basheer in Malappuram and Abdussamad Samadani in Ponnani.

NK Premachadran (Kollam), Dean Kuriakose (Idukki), MK Raghavan (Kozhikode) and Shafi Parambil (Vadakara) are the leaders who won by a margin of over 1 lakh votes. Rajmohan Unnithan (Kasargod), Francis George (Kottayam), Anto Antony (Pathanamthitta) and Benny Behanan (Chalakudy) won by a margin of over 50,000 votes.
