THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that there is an illicit relationship between the CPM and the BJP in Kerala and the victory of the BJP candidate in Thrissur, Sureshgopi, is part of this understanding. He said that even the Chief Minister was threatened with the cases taken by the central agencies.

'Why did LDF convener EP Jayarajan meet the BJP leader who was in charge of elections in Kerala? Why did the Chief Minister meet with Prakash Javadekar several times? CPM allowed BJP to open an account with the assurance given by BJP during these meetings that they would be saved from cases including Lavalin and the cases currently being investigated by the ED. Congress will go ahead with the confidence that this nexus has been further exposed.

Chief Minister will not be asked to resign because of the parliamentary election defeat. However, the election results indicate that there is public anger over the mismanagement of the government led by the Chief Minister. There was an unexpected defeat in Thrissur. We had already told that some dangerous political movements are going on in Thrissur.

The ED was investigating the Karuvannur bank scam and CPM leaders were being interrogated regularly but no arrests were made. We were sceptical then itself. There was a widespread campaign till the last stage that the CPM leaders would be arrested. CPM had reached an understanding there due to pressure. We had earlier warned that there was an illicit relationship between the CPM and the BJP in Kerala. That's what happened there.

There was also an incident where the police intervened and caused issues in Thrissur Pooram to create a favourable situation for the BJP candidate in Thrissur. This is the first time in history that the police have disturbed the Thrissur Pooram. It is estimated that the protest and anger over the Pooram riots became favourable for the BJP candidate. The party will also learn about the defeat in Alathur by a small margin' - VD Satheesan responded.
