M K Raghavan
This 72-year-old Payyanur native is the current Congress Parliamentary Party Secretary. It was in 2009 that Congress fielded this Kannur native against current tourism minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas from Kozhikode. Not many expected this Kannur native to complete a coup. But Raghavan defeated Riyas by just 838 votes and registered a landmark victory in Kozhikode. In his earlier days, Raghavan had held the posts of KSU State General Secretary and Youth Congress State General Secretary.
After serving as DCC Secretary, he became KPCC Joint Secretary. The victory in 2009 made Raghavan shift his base to Kozhikode, where he became a people's favourite, and as a result, got elected to the parliament three times since 2009.

Shafi Parambil
This 41-year-old prodigy of Congress is the Member of Legislative Assembly from Palakkad. He was born on February 12, 1983 to Shanavas Parambil and Maimuna in Palakkad Ongallur. Worked as KSU State General Secretary, President and Youth Congress State President. In 2011, congress fielded Shafi from the CPM bastion of Palakkad where he did a coup d'état. The success was repeated in 2016 and 2021. Currently, he is a member of the KPCC Political Affairs Committee. Wife: Adv. Asheela Ali. Dua is their only daughter.
