THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rains in the state for the next five days. Yellow alert has been announced in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
Yellow alert has been announced in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Thursday. The central meteorological department has issued a yellow alert on Friday in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod and in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod on Saturday. Heavy rains are predicted at isolated places in these districts.
In the next three hours, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad and Kannur and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour, the central meteorological department said in the notification issued at 1 pm.
The directive of the meteorological department is to continue vigilance in the hilly areas. There will be rain with thunder and wind. High waves are possible along the Kerala coast. A cyclonic system exists over the central west Bay of Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Another cyclonic circulation exists in the Bay of Bengal near the south Andhra coast and north Tamil Nadu coast. The meteorological department has stated that the rain continues as a result of this.
There will be strong wind with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph at occasional gusts and up to 55 kmph over Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari coast, South - West Bay of Bengal, South - East Bay of Bengal, South - East Bay of Bengal, South Central Bay of Bengal, North Andaman Sea tomorrow. Bad weather is also possible. So, it is suggested that people here should be careful.
