THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Only BJP made gains in Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. In Kerala, BJP has increased its vote percentage by three percentage points compared to 2019. BJP secured 32,96,354 votes (16.08 percent) out of the total votes polled. Last time BJP was able to get only 13 percent of votes.

Congress has also seen a decline in its vote share in the elections in which the UDF wave swept Kerala. Congress saw a drop of two percent votes. The party got 69,27,111 votes.

This time, the CPM, which contested in 15 constituencies, got a vote share of 25.82 percent. A total of 51,00,964 votes were received. Last time, 25.97 percent was obtained from 14 constituencies. The candidates who contested on CPM independent symbol in Ponnani and Idukki had received 4.24% votes back then. CPM vote share in 2019 was 30.06 percent if this is added.

Candidates were fielded with the CPM party symbol in these constituencies this time. In Kottayam constituency where VN Vasavan contested on the party symbol in 2019, it was Kerala Congress leader Thomas Chazhikadan who contested this time. Deducting the votes received here, there has been a decline of 2.71 percent in CPM votes.
