Just one day before the release of the Shane Nigam movie, producer Sandra Thomas took to Instagram to reveal the surprising roadblock that will make it impossible for the movie to get a theatrical release in six Arab countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
“We have put our heart and soul into making this film but the GCC spotted some mysterious element in the film that led to the ban. We are not ready to disclose more about the issue. Please watch the movie when it hits theatres across the world on Friday. Thank You for your understanding and continuous support. We are deeply pained by the decision”
Shane Nigam and Sandra Thomas were recently in Dubai for promotional work for the movie. Another rumour points to the purported inclusion of LGBTQ content in the movie to be the reason behind the surprise ban. The issue has also triggered a discussion on social media.
The promotional video of the movie had already garnered much attention for Shane Nigam’s caustic remark at Unni Mukundan during a talk show, which resulted in the actor facing a massive cyber-attack.
