NEW DELHI: BJP has shown good performance in Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. With the victory in Thrissur, the lotus has bloomed in the state for the first time in history. Suresh Gopi, who won the constituency by 74,686 votes, is sure to reach the cabinet from Kerala. According to reports coming out now, a second person from the state may reach the cabinet. Two names are being actively considered by the central leadership.
It is almost certain that Suresh Gopi, who won in Thrissur, will get a cabinet minister position. The other two candidates under consideration are candidates who have performed brilliantly in the Lok Sabha elections this time. One of the names being considered is Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who contested against Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram and finished a close second. Rajeev Chandrasekhar lost by just 16,077 votes. He got 3,42,078 votes.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar was the minister who had independent charge of the IT department in the second Modi government. There is a possibility that he will be included in the cabinet this time as well. The party has instructed Rajeev Chandrasekhar to work actively in Thiruvananthapuram for the next five years on the Thrissur model. The party believes that if he intervenes more actively in the constituency, he will emerge victorious next time.
V Muraleedharan, who made big strides in the Attingal constituency, including in CPM strongholds, is being considered as well. He was the Minister of State for External Affairs in the second Modi government and came third in Attingal, but his difference with the winner Adoor Prakash was just 16,272 votes. V Muraleedharan bagged 3,11,779 votes from Attingal, which was known as CPM's stronghold.
