K. Sudhakaran, the president of KPCC, has criticized the recently released progress report of the state government, describing it as a waste of the government's treasury. He argued that what people really want to know is the progress report on the financial status of the Chief Minister and his family.

Sudhakaran pointed to the outcome of the recent parliamentary elections as an assessment of the development activities of the LDF government. According to him, the Pinarayi government received passing marks in only 18 assembly constituencies, while LDF candidates were defeated in 122 constituencies.

He labelled the government's progress report as false, claiming it inaccurately portrays Kerala as corruption-free. Sudhakaran alleged that corruption is pervasive in the Chief Minister's office and throughout various departments. He cited accusations of collecting crores from bar owners to amend the liquor policy and receiving monthly payments in the name of the Chief Minister’s daughter as examples of corruption within the Pinarayi government.

Sudhakaran also criticized the report’s claims on promoting abstinence, stating that the government is, in fact, increasing liquor availability by opening more liquor shops, removing dry days, and extending bar hours. He called these claims ludicrous and accused the government of adopting double standards regarding the liquor policy.

He further argued that the government's stagnation is evident across all sectors, with farmers and youth becoming increasingly intolerant of Pinarayi's rule. Sudhakaran highlighted issues such as peak inflation, unemployment, a breakdown in law and order, increased taxes on government services, arrears in welfare pensions and the suspension of salaries and pensions for employees.

Sudhakaran also pointed out the deteriorating conditions in government hospitals, attributing the state's major financial crisis to profligacy and mismanagement at the government level. He concluded by saying that the public sentiment against these issues was clearly reflected in the election results.
