PATHANAMTHITTA: The Kerala Council of Churches (KCC), a joint organization of Christian organizations, has objected to the remarks made by the Chief Minister against Dr Geevarghese Mor Coorilos Metropolitan, the former head of the Niranam Diocese of Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church.

A statement issued by the KCC stated that the dictatorial tendency of the rulers is dangerous. KCC also stated that it is the characteristic of dictators to show unwillingness to accept criticism.

'If the Emperor is naked, it is the society's responsibility to point it out. It is immaturity to insult critics instead of accepting the criticism and making corrections accordingly. When a person who once called a priest a 'wretched creature' now calls another priest an 'idiot', it can be understood that the nature of that person has not changed,' the statement read.

The KCC also alleged that the present situation is so bad that the common man is finding it difficult to live in Kerala.

'The government's discriminatory interventions towards the Christian community have also contributed to the setback faced by the Left in the Lok Sabha elections. The government has not taken any action on the Justice JB Koshy Commission report even a year after submitting the report. Hence, the government should be ready to correct its mistake,' the statement further read.
