RAIPUR: Youth dedicates his finger to Goddess Kali for NDA's victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Durgesh Pandey (30), a native of Chhattisgarh, celebrated BJP's victory in a different way.
During the counting of votes on June 4, Durgesh was disappointed to learn that the Congress was leading initially. Then he reached Kali temple and prayed for BJP. Then, when NDA crossed 272 seats, the young man came back to the temple and offered a finger of his left hand to the goddess.
After cutting the finger, he tried to tie the wound with a cloth, but the bleeding did not stop. Then the young man's family took him to the hospital. As the injury was serious, he was shifted to Ambikapur Medical College. Surgery was performed to stop the bleeding, but due to the delay in seeking treatment, the youth's finger could not be stitched back together. The doctors said that the health condition of the young man is good.
'At the beginning of polling, I was upset to see the Congress leading. Congress supporters are also in high spirits. After that, all the villagers came to the Kali temple and prayed.
That evening, when BJP won the election, I went to the temple and cut my finger and offered it to the goddess. BJP will form government soon. But I would have been more happy if NDA had crossed 400'- said Durgesh.
