KOTTAYAM: Ratheesh, the owner of Puthettu Lorry Transport in Ettumanoor, gave the keys to his cargo lorry to his wife Jalaja on their 19th wedding anniversary. On February 2, 2022, Jalaja along with Ratheesh set off to Kashmir with cargo for a new journey of life. Soon two more women in the family became drivers. Their daughter Devika, a degree student, and Surya, wife of Ratish's brother Rajesh. With all three of them becoming expert drivers, Ratheesh, who owns 30 lorries, is thrilled.
The trio travelled through 22 states with loads of plywood, rubber, onions and ginger. After Kashmir, they toured Maharashtra and Nepal. While touring Haridwar and Rishikesh, they took Ratheesh's mother Leela with them. Jalaja took her heavy license in 2018. Soon Surya and Devika, who is a student, got their license. Devika is also a star at Ernakulam Rajagiri College. Devika's sister Gopika is waiting for her license.
Joint Family
Ratheesh and Rajesh migrated from Erumeli to Ettumanoor 25 years ago. They stay in the same house. Jalaja, Surya and Devika bacame the drivers on the Lucknow and Shillong trips in April-May. Ratheesh and Surya's children Ganga and two-and-a-half-year-old Daksha also joined them. AC was additionally installed in the cabin. They slept in the lorry and cooked on the roadside.
Many fans
Friends had asked them for videos and photos from their Kashmir trip. They shot the video and put it on YouTube. Ratheesh is the cameraman and Jalaja is the vlogger. 3.75 lakh subscribers. There are also foreigners among their fans. People come from even America and Canada to see them.
