KOCHI: Police on Tuesday arrested a Kerala youngster after he gave fake bomb threats on an Air India flight from Nedumbassery airport to London. Suhaib, a native of Malappuram, was caught by the security department at the Nedumbassery airport. He made the bomb threat to take revenge on the airline company.

A week ago, Suhaib, his wife and child had returned to Kochi from London on an Air India flight. While on the journey, Suhaib suffered food poisoning from the food served inside the airline. He pointed out this deplorable incident to the airlines and requested the authorities to reschedule his return ticket to London for some other day, as he was yet to come out better from the food poisoning.

However, Air India demanded more money from Suhaib as ticket fare if he needed to reschedule the return journey. This incident incensed Suhaib and he made an anonymous phone call issuing fake bomb threats to the Air India flight from Kochi to London. Some days later, Suhaib who reached the airport with his family to leave for London was taken into custody by Nedumbassery police.

Two days ago there was a fake bomb threat at Karipur airport as well. A note written in English with the words 'BOOMB' was found on the seat of an Air Arabia flight to Sharjah. The note came to the staff's attention while the passenger boarding was ongoing. With this, the passengers were cleared and the plane was shifted to an isolated area south of the airport. The dog squad and CISF then searched the plane but found nothing.
