THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain is continuing to wreak havoc in several parts of Kerala. An orange alert has been declared in Kannur Kasaragod districts today. Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert. Houses were damaged while deaths were also reported in the extreme rainfall in Kerala on Wednesday.

In Ullal Madani Nagar near Mangaluru, four people died after a wall fell on top of their house during heavy rain. The incident happened this morning. All the victims were in their sleep during the dawn hours when the accident took place. Yasir (45), his wife Maryumma (40), and children Rifan (17) and Rihana (11) have died. The wall collapsed and fell on top of the house. The rescue workers had to wait for more than three hours to get the bodies out.

A widespread landslide occurred near Vadakara Murad Bridge while electricity poles also fell on the ground disrupting power in the area. The landslide fell on the national highway from a height of 15 meters. Landslides occurred in two places and the soil in this region is continuing in a vulnerable state. One house in the region is also in danger and the locals are pleading with authorities to do the essential work.

A lump of heavy gravel fell on top of a house in Devikulam Munnar. The stones fell on top of Wilson's house. Wilson, his wife and two children escaped unhurt by sheer luck. A similar incident was also reported in Ernakulam Poothrikka.

Pathanamthitta Perunad Arayanjilimon causeway submerged in water. This causeway is the only means for more than 400 families to reach the other side of the water. Water levels in the Pampa and Achankovil rivers have also risen.

A tree fell on top of a house in Bonami, Idukki. Chippaiah, his wife and their son who were inside the house escaped unhurt. A mother and a four-year-old child were injured when the roof of a house collapsed due to strong winds in Ambalapuzha.
