KOCHI: Gas connection mustering (EKYC update) has been made mandatory to ensure that LPG cylinders are held by real customers. The last date for this may be announced by the central government soon. After that, those who do not do mustering may not be able to book the cylinder.

It was earlier thought that those under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has to do the update. But the distribution companies made it clear that everyone should do it. Indane, Bharat and HP companies have issued warning that mustering is mandatory as people are hesitant to do it even after two months of launching mustering. In an agency in Kochi with 8,500 customers, less than 500 have been mustered so far. This is the situation all over the state.

How to do mustering?

Mustering to change connection

If the connection holder is bedridden or in a similar situation, another person belonging to the same ration card can do the mustering. For this the connection should be changed to that person's name. It requires gas book, ration card along with Aadhaar card.
