LUCKNOW: A wall collapsed in Greater Noida following the heavy rains, killing three children instantly. The incident happened in Surajpur at around 7:30 pm last night. It was a wall that was under construction that collapsed. The wall fell on eight children, all coming from the same family. Relatives and police took the injured to the hospital, but their lives could not be saved. The rest of the injured children are currently undergoing treatment. It has been raining heavily in Greater Noida since early morning on Friday.
Meanwhile, one person died after the roof of Terminal-One (T-1) of Delhi Domestic Airport collapsed at around 5 am on Friday due to heavy rain. Eight people were injured. The driver of the parked car, Ramesh Kumar is the victim. The portion between the first and second gates in the departure terminal collapsed. The driver died when an iron pillar fell on the car which left four cars damaged.
The Delhi International Airport Limited, which formed a committee to investigate, announced that it would pay Rs 20 lakh to the family of the deceased and Rs 3 lakh to the injured. Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu visited the site.
Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh also saw a part of the airport roof collapse due to heavy rains. The Income Tax officials who were at the airport carried out a miraculous escape. This terminal was inaugurated just a few months before by the prime minister of India.
