THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has predicted rains at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Ernakulam districts on Saturday. Light rain is also possible at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Meanwhile, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed about the strong possibility of ‘Kallakadal’ phenomenon and high waves on the Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11:30 pm tomorrow. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas are advised to practice caution.

It is also observed that the rains may resume in the second week of July. As the water level has not receded, the district collector has declared a holiday for the educational institutions of Kuttanad taluk today, keeping in mind the safety of the children.

The holiday will apply to all educational institutions including professional colleges, Anganwadis and tuition centres. Educational institutions running relief camps in the district will also be closed. The District Collector has informed us that there will be no change in the previously scheduled exams on Saturday.

1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the dangerous areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and stay away from beach leisure activities.
