THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As more than 10,000 people are seeking treatment for fever every day, the number of dengue cases is also on the rise. There were 1075 dengue cases in ten days. On June 26, 182 people were diagnosed with dengue. More than 100 people were infected with dengue each day.
Ernakulam has more dengue cases. Cases are increasing in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts also.
11,187 people sought treatment for fever last day. Malappuram has the highest number of cases - 1719 people. 1279 in Thiruvananthapuram and 1008 in Palakkad.
In May, 1150 people had dengue fever. In June it became 2013 cases, half of which were in ten days. There are three and a half times more H1N1 cases than in May. 217 H1N1 cases and 127 Leptospirosis cases were reported. 33 people were confirmed with H1N1 today. In June, 26 people died due to dengue fever, Leptospirosis and H1N1.
Cleaning sabotaged in the name of code of conduct
Infectious diseases increased due to poor pre-monsoon cleaning. The allocation of funds for sanitation was extended by citing the election code of conduct. Pre-monsoon cleanup was not done by institutions including the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation which has its own funds. Thiruvananthapuram district ranks second in communicable diseases.
