VENPALAVATTOM: A scooter with two women and a toddler fell off from a flyover in Venpalavattom in the capital city on Monday. As per the latest report, the woman pillion rider has died in the accident. The CCTV visuals obtained from a nearby shop are frightening, showing the scooter losing balance from the flyover, leaving the three riders to fall on the service road from a considerable height. The woman pillion rider hit her head straight into the nearby ditch on the fall.
The incident took place at 1 am on Monday noon. Pettah police will soon start investigating by acquiring the nearby shops' CCTV visuals. It is assumed that the scooter first hit a divider before losing balance. It is also reported that the toddler and other woman suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
Police are yet to ascertain the real reason for the accident. There is big ambiguity as this road is not prone to accidents. Police will soon take details from the family and the injured to clear the air about the freak accident.
As per details from a relative, the two women in the scooters were sisters and they were returning after attending a death ceremony in Mayyanad. The locals and the autorickshaw drivers in the area rushed all three to a nearby private hospital but Vellar native Simy(32) succumbed to her injuries.
