KOYILANDY: Four students who are SFI activists, have been suspended from the college for assaulting Koyilandy Gurudeva College Principal Dr Sunil Bhaskar and Staff Secretary KP Ramesan. The action is against Teju Sunil MK (2nd year BBA), Teju Lakshmi TK (3rd year BBA), Amal Raj RP (2nd year BCom) and Abhishek S Santosh (2nd year Psychology).

The SFI activists had attacked the principal and the staff secretary during a dispute over the establishment of a help desk for four-year degree course admissions.

Meanwhile, the police took statements from the students involved in the attack. The CC TV footage of the college office was examined. Various student organizations and cultural activists protested against SFI Area Secretary Navtej S Mohan's threatening speech against the principal.

'Something that never should have happened'

Kalpatta Narayanan said that the assault on the principal and the extremely provocative speech that followed was condemnable. Unacceptable words and actions come from the student body that once contributed so many talents. It is the time when there are 'idimuri' (assault rooms) on the campus.
