KOCHI: Two Assam natives were arrested with 63 bottles of heroin during an inspection carried out by the police in Perumbavoor in Ernakulam. The arrested people have been identified as Nagaon natives Ariful Islam (26) and Alfikus Zaman (27). The two were arrested by a special team led by Perumbavoor ASP based on information that drug gangs are rampant in the area.

63 bottles of heroin were seized from the two. The heroin which which was brought from Assam through train was being sold at the rate of Rs 1000 per bottle. An Apple mobile phone worth Rs 45,000 stolen from the Aluva KSRTC bus stand last Friday was also recovered from the accused. As Perumbavoor has the largest migrant worker population in Kerala, the increasing number of criminals among migrant workers is creating panic among the local residents.
