THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A patient who was beaten by the security staff of the medical college hospital was found dead in a canal near Mannamoola bridge. The deceased has been identified as Sreekumar (38), son of Balakrishnan, of MRA 64 Mani Bhavan in Peroorkada. Sreekumar was found at 10 am on Monday. The police concluded that he may have fallen into the canal on his way back after attending the funeral ceremony of his friend Manoj. Sreekumar was an epileptic.

On June 6, Sreekumar, who came to the Medical College Hospital, was beaten up by the security staff accusing him of creating a ruckus in the casualty department.

Junaid, the said security staff, was suspended after a video of the assault came out on social media and the health minister ordered an investigation into this matter.
