PALAKKAD: A woman and her baby died after the water tank of a cattle farm collapsed at Vellinezhi in Cherpulassery. The dead are Shymili (30), wife of Basudev of West Bengal and his one-and a-half-year-old son Sameeram. Shymili and her family were working in the cattle farm in Vellinezhi. The farm belongs to Ratheesh of the area.

Initial reports said the water tank collapsed when the mother along with her baby was washing her hands from the pipe near the tank, after cutting grass for the cattle. The tank was built a year ago. The locals who came near the area of the farm at 1 pm saw the two lying dead. The police and fire brigade have reached the spot. The bodies have been shifted to Ottappalam Taluk Hospital.
