THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rains will intensify in the state for the next five days. A low-pressure area is located from north Kerala coast to Maharashtra coast. As a result of this, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has also been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod today.

Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely today along the North Kerala coast-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional up to 55 kmph. Due to these reasons, the IMD has advised not to go fishing.


The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre informed that there is a possibility of Kallakadal phenomenon and high waves along Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.


Alert issued
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
