KOCHI: Actor and MoS Suresh Gopi filed an appeal in the High Court over the tax evasion case on Thursday. Union Minister Suresh Gopi was accused of registering a vehicle in Puducherry using a fake address to evade tax.

Suresh Gopi filed an appeal in the High Court against the order of the Magistrate Court refusing to cancel the cases registered against the actor-turned-politician for registering two luxury cars in Puducherry. In the appeal, Suresh Gopi has requested that the order of the Ernakulam Magistrate Court be quashed.

Suresh Gopi registered two cars in Puducherry to evade tax during 2010 and 2016. According to the crime branch charge sheet, it is reported that the state suffered a loss of Rs 30 lakh following the actor's move to register the vehicles in another state. Suresh Gopi had earlier claimed to own a farmland in Puducherry but the findings from the officials proved that no such land exists.
