THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A war of words erupted between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Kasargod MP Rajmohan Unnithan during the Chief Minister's meeting with the MPs from the state on Monday. Rumour has it that the argument between the two sprang from Rajmohan Unnithan's accusation that the state government and the Chief Minister were ignoring the Kasaragod district.
According to sources, Rajmohan Unnithan said that when Oommen Chandy had served as the Chief Minister, action was taken to establish AIIMS in the Kasargod district. He went on to say that Pinarayi Vijayan sabotaged this move after the Left Front came into power in the state. Unnithan also alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to establish AIIMS in Kozhikode district.
Unnithan further alleged that the state government was not showing any interest in granting NOC to the Kasargod-Panathur rail project. However, Unnithan lost his cool when the CM mockingly replied that the government would place the NOC in the MP's hand. Unnithan stated that Pinarayi should not make fun of him while serving as Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the meeting of MPs called by the Chief Minister decided to jointly submit a petition to the Central Government to solve the financial crisis of the state.
