THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain continues with more vigour in the state while IMD issued a red alert in Wayanad for Thursday. Considering the warning, the district collector declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Wayanad on Thursday. Anganwadis, Tuition Centers, and Professional Colleges will also remain closed for tomorrow. Pre-scheduled exams and PSC exams will remain unchanged. The District Collector said the holiday will not apply to Model Residential and Navodaya Schools.

Due to continued heavy rains in the district, a ban was also imposed on adventure parks and trekking activities. People are also advised to travel unnecessarily during the intensifying rain.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned of high waves and rougher seas, mostly in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. There is a possibility of 2.5 to 3.4 meters high wave and storm surge along Kerala coast on 19-07-2024 till 11:30 pm.
