NEW DELHI: Manorama Khedkar, mother of the controversial IAS trainee Puja Khedkar, has been detained. The Pune Police detained her in the case of threatening farmers with a gun.


She was detained in the incident that happened one and a half years ago. The farmers had filed a complaint then, but no action was taken. However, after Puja was embroiled in controversy, the police registered a case against her mother.


The statement of the farmers was recorded earlier. Manorama was hiding in a lodge near the Raigad Fort when the police detained her last evening. Puja is facing investigation on the complaint of producing fake certificates to get IAS.


It was also alleged that Puja despite having assets worth crores, gave an OBC non-creamy layer certificate and also forged a document for visual impairment. It has also been reported that an attempt was made to get a certificate proving physical disability pointing weakness in the bones. The central and state governments are investigating against Puja.


Meantime, Puja had filed a complaint against Pune District Collector for mental harassment. The police have asked Puja to appear at the station today to take her statement. Puja was transferred from Pune to Vidarbha based on collector's report. The collector's report said that she demanded special cabins and staff and had installed beacon lights on her private luxury vehicle.
