NEW DELHI: A woman who worked as a domestic help in a luxury bungalow in Delhi was arrested for stealing money and jewellery worth Rs 60 lakhs from the bungalow to buy a DSLR camera to film reel videos for her Instagram page. The incident took place in Dwaraka in Delhi. The arrested woman has been identified as Neetu Yadav, a 30-year-old woman.
On July 15, the owner of the bungalow lodged a complaint with the police stating that gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs were stolen from the bungalow. He also told the police that he suspected Neetu, who worked in the house a few days before the theft, could have committed the crime. The police conducted a detailed investigation based on this complaint and found that Neetu was behind the theft. They then arrested her while she was trying to escape from Delhi.
Neetu is a native of Rajasthan. She told the police she came to Delhi and became a domestic help as she was unable to bear the torture of her husband. After coming to Delhi, she started posting reels on Instagram. She said that she decided to steal the jewellery after receiving a piece of advice that she should get a DSLR camera to create good videos.
