KOLLAM: Animal Husbandry Department Minister J Chinchu Rani said the concern over bird flu in the state is slowly decreasing. The minister said no new cases are being reported in the affected areas and the spread of the virus is declining.
The minister said the expert committee's recommendation to ban poultry farming till March 2025 will not be implemented in the present situation. The minister said that no new cases have been reported in places like Alappuzha, Kottayam, Vaikom and Adoor and it is a relief that there is no incident of birds dying.
In this situation, the government can take a stand not to impose a ban on poultry farming. The minister added that the reason for the crisis is the lack of central share in the compensation amount for the farmers and a report has been submitted to the centre to get the same.
