OTTAWA: Attacks on Hindu temples are turning out to be a recurring incident in Canada these days. In yet another dastardly act, assailants vandalized the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Edmonton and wrote anti-India graffiti on the temple walls.

Following the violence, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of Canada condemned the incident.

“VHP Canada strongly condemns the anti-Hindu graffiti and vandalism at the BAPS Temple in Edmonton”, said the post from their official page.

The organization also requested the government of Canada to take action against the extremist ideology and the alarmingly rising Hinduphobia in the country.

Earlier too, there were incidents of hatred and vandalisation in Canada. In Windsor, Ontario the attackers spray-painted anti-India slogans on the walls of the temple.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs strongly condemned the incident. A Hindu temple was similarly attacked in Ontario's Mississauga. A temple in Brampton was also attacked.

"The act of vandalism is not only an attack on a physical structure but also an affront to the sentiments of the Hindu community and the principles of respect and tolerance that our society holds dear." said the Hindu business community in Canada.
