SHIRUR: The drone search is ongoing for the missing truck driver Arjun in Shirur. Uttara Kannada District Collector Lakshmi Priya said efforts will be made using thermal scanners to detect human presence. The temperature at night will be conducive for detecting human presence in the water.
According to the head of the mission, Rt. Major General Indrabalan Nambiar, the signal has been received from three places. Major Indrabalan said divers could only go up to three knots deep in the water, minding the dangerous undercurrent. The district collector said the team would have to wait until the inclement weather subsides and the water level recedes in Ganagavali.
Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail stated that Arjun's truck is ten meters deep from Gangavali. He said that the timber had come off the lorry and metal parts were found at four places. 'Drone inspection will be done at night too. If the current in the river is more than two knots, divers cannot descend. It has not been possible to confirm that there is human presence inside the lorry,' said the MLA.
