NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dras today to participate in the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Army's victory over the infiltrating Pakistan Army in Kargil. The Prime Minister will pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Kargil at the war memorial there at 9.20 am. The 25th anniversary celebrations started yesterday.

Prime Minister will talk to widows of martyred soldiers. Former Army Chief General V P Malik, Lt. Gen. Y K Joshi, Brigadier S.S. Shekhawat, Col. Sonam Wangchuk, Girdhari Lal Batra, father of martyred Capt. Vikram Batra and others will also participate.

Modi will also initiate the construction of the Shinku La Tunnel to facilitate the movement of troops along the border. The 4.1 km long twin tunnel is being constructed on the Nimmu - Padum - Darcha road at an altitude of 15,800 feet. It can be used in all weather conditions.
