NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that the much awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains and Vande Metro have entered the trial phase. The minister stated this while talking to the media about the first budget of the third Modi government. The minister added that around 50 more Amrit Bharat trains have been sanctioned.
'Sleeper (Vande Bharat) and Vande Metro have entered trial phase. Production has reached the level of one Vande Bharat per week or ten days. 50 more Amrit Bharat trains were sanctioned. These are completely non-AC trains. Out of 22 coaches, 11 are sleeper and 11 are general', the minister clarified.
Meanwhile, all these trains have been built with a new design that provides better service and comfort to the passengers. Amrit Bharat Express was launched in December last year. But Vande Bharat Express is running under Indian Railways since 2019. As of July 19, 102 Vande Bharat services are running across Indian Railways.
Amrit Bharat Train is an LHB push pull train with non-air-conditioned coaches. It has locos at both ends for better acceleration. Amrit Bharat Express was introduced to provide better facilities to passengers. These include better seats, better luggage rack, charging point with compatible mobile holder, LED lights and CCTV.
At the same time, passengers are expecting the newly introduced Amrit Bharat Express to operate on major routes in Kerala. Recently there was a report that Kerala will get more Vande Bharat trains soon.
