DEHRADUN: Cloudburst in Tehri Garhwal area of ​​Uttarakhand. Rivers Bal Ganga and Dharam Ganga overflowed and flooded houses in the area and the fields. There are also reports of flooding in several ashrams in Gangotri. It has been informed that the huts of the monks were washed away.

Roads and bridges collapsed and road traffic to many parts of the state have come to a complete standstill. "There was heavy rain in areas like Jakhana, Toli and Genwali around midnight yesterday. After this, there was a flood in the Bal Ganga. Fields and houses along the road were submerged," District Magistrate Mayur Dixit said.

Officials said some shops in the villages were also damaged in the floods. There were no casualties as residents of houses near the river bank quickly moved to safer places.

Dixit said that authorities have reached the flood-affected area and are assessing the extent of the damage. The administration has warned residents of the area not to enter the river.
Meanwhile, the water level of river Ganga in Haridwar and Rishikesh has reached close to the danger level. The water level of the Ganga at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh was 339.62 meters on Friday. This is 88 meters below the danger mark.
