SRINAGAR: Police has released sketches of three terrorists who carried out a terrorist attack in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Police has also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for those who provide information about the terrorists. The police also said that the names of the informers will be kept confidential.
Four soldiers had died in the terrorist attack on July 16. Major Brijesh Thapa, Naik D. Rajesh, soldiers Bijendra and Ajay died heroically. Two soldiers were also injured. It is reported that Kashmir Tigers, a shadow group of Jaish-e-Mohammed, is behind the attack.
The operation was conducted on the basis of information about the presence of terrorists in the forest of the district. The first encounter took place around 7.30 pm during a joint search by the anti-terrorist force Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The army retaliated the terrorists who shot from hiding.
Then the army chased the terrorists who tried to escape. Around 9 pm there was a fierce encounter again. The encounter continued for 20 minutes. Four of the five seriously injured soldiers died in hospital. There have been several terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.
