MOSCOW: A 22-year-old Indian who was fighting on the front line against Ukraine in Russia has been killed. The deceased is Ravi Maun, a native of Haryana. Indian Embassy in Moscow has informed Ravi's family about his death. It is not clear what circumstances led to the death of Ravi Maun. The family members had no information about him for the past five months.

Family members alleged that 22-year-old Ravi was forced to participate in the war against Ukraine. Ravi Maun is a resident of Mattaur village in Kaithal district of Haryana. The family members allege that the agent took Ravi with the promise of getting him a job as a driver in Russia.

'The agent assured that he would get a job as a driver in Russia. But Ravi was forced to participate in the Russia-Ukraine war. We last spoke to Ravi on March 12,' said Ravi Maun's brother Ajay.

The Indian Embassy has asked for the mother's DNA test report to hand over Ravi's body to the family. But since Ravi's mother is dead and his father is unwell, his brother will be giving the DNA test.

Ravi informed the family about his participation in the war on March 6. Pictures of him in military uniform with a gun were also sent. With this, the family approached the Ministry of External Affairs. They sought information from the Russian authorities.

Ravi participated in the war after being threatened with 10 years imprisonment if he did not serve in the army. On January 23 this year, Ravi went to Russia along with six other youths from the village. For this, the family sold their land and spent 11.5 lakh rupees. The family approached the Prime Minister to release Ravi's body as soon as possible.
