KOZHIKODE: In an alarming case, one more case of amoebic encephalitis was reported in Kozhikode on Monday. A four-year-old boy from Kozhikode is suffering from the disease and is undergoing treatment. The child was diagnosed with the disease during a test conducted in Puducherry.
The child was diagnosed with the disease during the preliminary examination. Doctors informed the health condition of the child, undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode, to be satisfactory. The child was moved to the room four days ago. Two children are currently under treatment for amoebic encephalitis. A three-and-a-half-year-old boy from Kannur is still on a ventilator but is responding to medicines.
A total of three children have died of amoebic encephalitis in Kerala this year. A five-year-old girl from Malappuram died on May 21, a 13-year-old from Kannur on June 16 and a 12-year-old from Farook on July 3.
