THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state will continue to receive heavy rain for the next two days. Northern districts will receive extremely heavy rainfall. A flash flood is likely in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

According to the IMD, rain will continue in the state due to an active low-pressure area from the Kerala coast to south Gujarat and cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh. A yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod districts on Tuesday. Landslides occurred in the hilly areas of Kannur district due to heavy rains yesterday. Traffic was disrupted on Mysuru Road. Around 20 houses were destroyed in Kozhikode.

Holiday declared in seven districts
District authorities have declared a holiday for educational institutions in Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts today. However, pre-scheduled exams and interviews will take place as scheduled. The holiday is not applicable to colleges in Kozhikode district.
