NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X that his thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones and that he is praying for those injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a relief of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The injured will be given half a lakh rupees each from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
The Prime Minister informed that he spoke to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and promised all assistance. Ministers of State Suresh Gopi and George Kurien from Kerala were instructed to coordinate the mission. George Kurien has left for Wayanad.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to the Chief Minister on the phone and offered help. Officials have been directed to coordinate the work of disaster management forces. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and ordered the army to perform rescue operations.
Ananda Bose reaches Kozhikode
Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose has arrived in Kozhikode to visit Mundakkai and console the families of the deceased and the injured. As soon as he got the information, he called the Chief Minister on the phone and expressed the solidarity of the people of Bengal in the rescue mission. Ananda Bose arrived after communicating with the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister. He will hold a discussion in Kozhikode with Union Minister of State George Kurien regarding coordination with central agencies in the rescue operation.
Dr CV Ananda Bose said that the disaster in Wayanad has left the country in mourning. He wished peace to those who were martyred in the tragedy. He said that the country will be with Kerala to rehabilitate the injured and those who have lost their homes and agricultural land.
Condolences from CPM Politburo
The CPM Politburo expressed grief over the Wayanad tragedy. "Condolences have been expressed to the grieving families. The state government is carrying out intensive rescue operations with the help of experts and people. It is expected that the central government will provide all assistance for rescue, relief and rehabilitation on a war-time basis," PB said in a press release.
