SHIMLA: A lightning flood had occurred in Tosh area of Manikaran yesterday morning after cloudburst in Himachal's Kullu district. Bridges and buildings were washed away. Kullu Torul Deputy Commissioner S. Ravish said that no casualty has been reported at present and the situation is being assessed. Authorities have warned people along the river to move to safer places.
An expert team has reached Tosh region to assess the situation. Officials said construction activities will be banned during monsoons and strict action will be taken against those who violate the warning as it is raining heavily in Himachal. Seven districts are on orange alert. Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rains in the state for the next five days.
Landslides and floods are likely in vulnerable areas of Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla and Kinnaur districts. Strong winds may also blow. Last day, two people were killed in a flash flood following a cloudburst in Uttarakhand. There was a lot of damage in the area.
