NEW DELHI: Forgetting politics, the MPs of Kerala jointly handed over the petition containing the main demands of Kerala to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The petition was forwarded by a team consisting of NK Premachandran, MK Raghavan, Anto Antony, Jose K Mani, K Radhakrishnan, VK Sreekandan, V Sivadasan, Francis George, Dean Kuriakos, P Santhoshkumar and Harris Beeran.
The petition was given in the context of ignoring the demands of Kerala in the budget. The petition was filed with demands such as 5000 crores for Vizhinjam port development, approval for Wayanad tunnel project under special capital investment scheme, increase in borrowing limit, financial assistance for railway development, special financial package of 24,000 crores, AIIMS, rain relief assistance of 1500 crores, announcement of second Kuttanad package, minimum support price for agricultural crops of Kerala, Medical equipment manufacturing plant at Thonnakkal Thiruvananthapuram.
The move to raise Kerala's demands jointly did not take place last year due to differences among MPs. The petition was submitted by a group consisting of only LDF MPs back then.
