KALPETTA: District Collector DR Meghashree has informed that it has been decided to limit the number of ambulances reaching the Chooralmala area of ​​Wayanad for rescue operations. The presence of more than required ambulances in and around Chooralmala is making rescue operations difficult.

"Only 25 ambulances are required for rescue operations at the disaster site. The remaining 25 ambulances should be parked at the Polytechnic College ground. Three fire engines should be parked at the disaster site and two at the Polytechnic College ground. The remaining should be parked at a convenient place away," the Collector said.

The District Collector has informed that in the event of heavy rains in the district, those who live in landslide-prone areas and areas that have experienced landslides in previous years should be cautious.

People should exercise extreme caution in Kurumbalakotta, Lakkidi Manikkunnu Hills, Muttil Kolpara Colony, Kapikkalee, Sudhangiri and Pozhuthana areas. The collector said that those who have been asked to move to the camp should move from their residence to the camps as soon as possible due to the threat of danger. It is also suggested that local body secretaries and village officers take necessary steps.
The Central Water Commission has issued a flood warning in Bharatapuzha. The Water Commission also warned people to be cautious.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the Mundakkai disaster has reached 254. A Bailey bridge will be set up at the disaster site tomorrow evening. It is still raining in Mundakkai, Chooralmala and Attamala. Heavy rain continues in the district where an orange alert has been declared.

So far, 222 bodies have been found in the disaster. The last information received is that 225 people are missing. The 10 dead bodies recovered during the search were brought to Meppadi Govt Higher Secondary School near Meppadi CHC. 20 more bodies will be brought there. The bodies will be handed over after relatives and locals identify them. 90 people who survived the disaster are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. 11 of them are still in ICU.
