Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Pathanamthitta districts apart from Wayanad, are also prone to severe mudslides and landslides. There is a possibility of landslides or mudslides in 460 areas in the state. According to the study, 32 places have more than 30 percent chance of landslides and 76 places have more than 20 percent chance of landslides.

Don't

  1. Do not obstruct the flow of streams and brooks springing from the hills. Blocking them with dams and human structures is dangerous.
  2. Rain pits should not be constructed on hilltops and areas with a slope of more than 25%. In Wayanad and Idukki there are rain pits in danger areas.
