PARIS: Five days have passed since the start of the Paris Olympics and the point table screams Asian dominance. The United States, usually on top of the table has surprisingly dropped to the seventh position.

As per the latest report, China is in first place with 16 medals including eight gold, two silver and six bronze. Japan is second with 13 medals including seven gold, two silver and four bronze.

France, Britain and Australia are in the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with six golds each. The United States is seventh with 27 medals so far, including four gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze. With the start of the athletics event, it is expected that the USA will climb back the ladders to be in the top spot along with China. South Korea is in the sixth position with six golds.

With two bronze medals, India is in the 37th spot.
