WAYANAD: A case has been registered against those who spread a false campaign against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's Facebook post appealing for help to those affected by the Wayanad landslides. The Wayanad Cyber Crime police registered the case for circulating posts with the intention of obstructing relief work. The case has been registered under sections 192 and 45 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 51 of the Disaster Management Act.

The fake Facebook post was circulated from the profile named 'Koyikodans 2.0' on X. The post was aimed at urging people to reject the Chief Minister's appeal for disaster relief. Meanwhile, the police said that strict action would be taken against those circulating such misleading posts on social media. The Cyber Police has intensified surveillance on social media for this.

Meanwhile, the rescue team in Wayanad has intensified the search for 240 people who went missing in the landslides in Mundakkai and Chooralmala. As many as 1592 people were rescued in the last two days. Nine teams have been assigned today to find the bodies covered in mud. Cadaver dogs of the police have also been brought along with the army for the rescue operation.
