NEW DELHI: Thousands of junior doctors in Kerala will have to travel a thousand kilometers away to Andhra Pradesh to appear for the NEET PG entrance exam scheduled to be held on August 11 by the National Medical Science Examinations Board after the NEET UG question paper was postponed due to the leak. The location of the examination center will be known only on the 8th. Students and parents are in a race to fix accommodation, train and plane tickets in an unfamiliar place. The matter was raised by MPs Kodikunnil Suresh, John Brittas and Harris Beeran and brought to Union Health Minister J P Nadda's attention. The minister assured that a solution for the issue.

In the examination application, the center in Andhra should have been chosen as the fourth choice along with the centers in Kerala. Students did not expect to get Andhra as the first three were centers in Kerala. Some people from Kozhikode got Visakhapatnam, but only can know where the center is on the 8th. There are no direct trains from Kozhikode and other routes and no tickets on other routes. A flight ticket costs more than Rs 15,000. If there is no other option, the students are planning to book a tourist bus and go. CPM MP Dr John Brittas wrote to the minister that so many junior doctors leaving the state to write the exam will affect the relief measures in Wayanad.

Congress Lok Sabha Chief Whip Kodikunnil Suresh, who met Union Health Minister J P Nadda, raised concerns about the examination centres. The MP demanded that the examination center be allowed in Kerala. Travel facility from Kerala to Andhra is less. Accommodation for girls and financial expenses for needy students will also be liable.

In a letter sent to the minister, Muslim League MP Harris Beeran pointed out that many applicants, including those in flooded areas who are currently experiencing physical difficulties, have requested to shift the centre.
