MALAPPURAM: Today's search centred on the Chaliyar River, for the bodies of the victims of the landslides in Wayanad, has ended. The search in the river started at eight o'clock this morning. A third of the bodies found so far have been found from Chaliyar River. According to official figures, 67 dead bodies and 121 body parts have reached the Nilambur District Hospital from the Chaliyar River so far. The search was conducted using systems including drones.
Meanwhile, three people stranded in Soochipara were rescued. Sally, Riaz and Muhsin, natives of Malappuram, got stuck on a rock near Soochipara. It is reported that two of them have leg injuries. One swam to the other side.
Both the injured were airlifted. All three will be taken to Meppadi police station after providing medical aid. They were rescued in a very adventurous way. They crossed the Chaliyar River and went to Soochipara through the forest yesterday evening. However, they could not move forward and were stuck on the rock all night. It is reported that the gang was rescued by the police and forest department officials.
