THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said a comprehensive rehabilitation package should be implemented in Mundakkai and Chooralmala in Wayanad, devastated by the landslides. Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the Centre would provide necessary assistance to the state. The Chief Minister said he expects a positive response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Wayanad on Saturday.
"The search is going on in the affected areas on Thursday as well. The Kerala government has demanded that the landslides in Wayanad be declared a national disaster. The Home Ministry has formed a nine-member committee to probe the incident and submit a report. Considering the seriousness of the tragedy, we expect that the Centre would provide assistance to help the families of the disaster victims and for rehabilitation and township activities. We had written to the Prime Minister in this regard. I hope the Prime Minister will take a positive stand. I thank the Centre for its support in this great mission," the CM said.
