THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While addressing the state during the Independence Day parade on Thursday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it was a matter of concern that the country is still falling short in predicting natural calamities in advance.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan:
“The tragedies across the world show that it is indeed accurate forecasts, not general warnings, required to prevent disasters. The country should be able to rise to such a level of technical dominance.
Independence Day is a day of joy and pride for every Indian. But we are not in the mood for any celebration. The natural disaster in Wayanad has left our entire country in mourning. Tributes to those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
India is a nation of great diversity. The very existence of our nation rests on the great concept of unity in diversity. However, today there are efforts to break it from some corners. People should have the freedom to eat what they like, wear clothes of their preference and follow the religion they have sought enlightenment. That will be the greatest tribute to the great personalities who fought tooth and nail to ensure the country gets freedom.”
